Renewable Energy
Electricity production is the single largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the United States, accounting for 34% of national emissions. The vast majority of our electricity comes from dirty, non-renewable sources like coal, oil and natural gas.
Finding alternatives to these traditional energy sources is essential to our fight against climate change. Most projects developed or supported by Terrapass capture and destroy methane gas, which, in addition to being a powerful greenhouse gas, can also be used as a fuel to generate electricity. Therefore, these projects are not only reducing the volume of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, but they are also displacing electricity that would otherwise be generated by power plants running on fossil fuels like coal.
Now that’s a breath of fresh air.
